About Dr. Halim

I’m a board-certified psychiatrist, passionate about psychotherapy and behavior change.

I completed my residency training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, in Boston, MA, and my fellowship training in sleep medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

As a psychiatrist who also offers psychotherapy, I favor a flexible, non-dogmatic approach, based in evidence and clinical experience, that puts the patient’s needs first. To paraphrase the psychotherapy scholar Leigh McCullough, a therapist should aim to do the most good, in the shortest time, with the least stress for the patient. I believe this is what it means to be patient-centered.

While I draw upon different psychotherapy traditions and techniques, depending on your individual needs, I find the framework of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) broadly applicable to most people seeking care. The aim of ACT is to help you become more comfortable with your feelings and emotions, while also helping you to clarify and pursue your values, ideals, and goals.
