insomnia

I offer the gold-standard treatment for insomnia, a behavioral treatment that works by changing habits and ideas, called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, or CBT-I. This treatment is different from sleep hygiene, or sleeping medication. And experts agree that many more people would benefit than ever receive it. You can find my quick introduction in Slate magazine.

Here is how one patient described his experience working with me this year:

“Finally, after an entire year of failed attempts to improve my sleep, I consulted Dr. Halim since I figured if he couldn’t help me, then he could at least prescribe medication. Fortunately, he was able to get to the bottom of the particular issues I had around sleep, and was able to help me learn some better ways of thinking about these challenges. It’s been a couple months and I have been sleeping well consistently despite a very busy schedule involving a lot of travel, high-pressure work at night, and travel to different time-zones.”
